Five Practices starts this Sunday
Posted by Joe under General Thoughts
I am very excited to be participating in The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations at TLUMC. I look forward to sharing this time of focus on what the church is and should be with this congregation. I am trusting that God is going to do amazing things for TLUMC in the days ahead. I hope you will participate fully in this time by reading the devotional, making a point to come to worship, listening to the podcasts if you miss, and considering being part of an Interest Group.
Five Practices: Radical Hospitality, Passionate Worship, Intentional Faith Development, Risk-Taking Mission and Service, and Extravagant Generosity! Check out the book by Robert Schnase.

I was thinking about the sermon on Sunday, 7 December…in order for Mary to say ‘yes’ in obedience to the Lord in such an extraordinary message from Him she must have witnessed the Lord’s faithfulness in several small acts of obedience prior to that. Choosing to say yes under ordinary circumstances prepared her to say yes in this extraordinary circumstance. This is a huge lesson for me to be aware and prepared for the small, ordinary opportunities to be obedient, which will help me to be more usable for the Lord when the more extraordinary opportunities present themselves. Scary…..yes, but pleasing and glorifying to God.
